Mama Joy’s story begins in the heart of New Orleans’ historic 7th Ward, where food is more than something you put on the table — it’s how you love people, bring family together, celebrate life, and carry tradition from one generation to the next.

Growing up in a city known around the world for its unmistakable flavors and vibrant culture, Joy learned her way around the kitchen from the people who knew it best: family, friends, and the community that raised her. Each person taught her something different — a technique, a recipe, a little kitchen wisdom — helping shape the cook she would eventually become.

But what she carries with her today goes far beyond recipes.

It’s the instinct to know when a dish is just right. It’s understanding that authentic Creole cooking can’t be rushed. It’s knowing how to layer flavor, season with intention, and prepare food that makes people stop after the first bite and say, “Now THAT tastes like New Orleans.”

That heritage is at the heart of Mama Joy’s Creole Catering.

Every dish is prepared with the same love, soul, and unmistakable Creole flavor that surrounded Joy growing up in the 7th Ward. Whether she’s serving an intimate gathering or catering a room full of guests, her goal is simple: to give people more than a meal. She wants to give them an experience.
